Brooklyn writer Beth Bosworth is the 2012 winner of the Drue Heinz Literature Prize, given annually by the University of Pittsburgh Press for an original collection of short fiction. Bosworth’s winning collection is The Source of Life and Other Stories, and was selected by the distinguished American essayist and literary critic, Sven Birkerts from over 300 submissions.
The Source of Life and Other Stories is a rugged and wry look at everyday life through the eyes of characters described by Bosworth as, “doing battle with their own worst selves as much as fate or circumstance.” Focusing on their internal struggles set against the backdrop of family life, Bosworth explores the lives of her characters as they seek redemption and survival.
Beth Bosworth is the founding editor of the Saint Ann's Review. Her publications include a novel, Tunneling, and a collection of short stories, A Burden of Earth. A book signing will follow Beth Bosworth’s talk and reading. Copies of her book will be available for purchase from the University of Pittsburgh Press.
